The Development Plan for Stoney Stanton is the Blaby District Council Core Strategy DPD, adopted in February 2013 and the Local Plan Delivery DPD adopted in February 2019. The adopted local plan sets out the Council’s planning strategy for the District up to 2029. The Fosse Villages Neighbourhood Plan covers Stoney Stanton alongside a number of other parishes within Blaby with the latest updated undertaken in January 2024.
The Local Plan is significantly out of date in that it is more than 13 years post-adoption without review, focuses on a different housing requirement and is inconsistent with the latest National Planning Policy Framework. The Council is unable to demonstrate a 5-year housing land supply, as required by national policy, with the latest position of just 2.78-years supply.
The Council is in the early stages of preparing a new Local Plan following a delay due to infrastructure and viability evidence.
In such circumstance, a presumption in favour of sustainable development is applied unless the adverse impacts of doing so would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits.
